G-M Enterprises supplied a 20-bar vacuum furnace to Paulo Products Co. The furnace, which has an 8,000-pound load capacity and maximum work-zone dimensions of 48 inches wide x 36 inches high x 60 inches long, was installed at Paulo’s St. Louis, Mo., facility. The furnace is equipped with an 800-hp cooling motor, graphite hot zones and an Allen Bradley PLC control system. Thanks to this new furnace, Paulo-St. Louis can now handle larger parts requiring vacuum heat treatment. The facility has already successfully completed all necessary testing and has received approval as a provisional heat-treat source of Die Insert Material for Ford Motor Co. and General Motors, Powertrain Division.

G-M Enterprises was awarded an order for six Model HVF 701-XXB (2-bar) vacuum furnaces from a U.S.-based company that processes aerospace parts. These furnaces all have a free work area of 48 inches wide x 48 inches high x 72 inches long with a 4,500-pound gross loading capacity. Hot-zone construction is with all-graphite insulation including heavy-duty graphite hearth assembly and graphite heating elements in circular configuration. The furnaces are to be installed at the company’s new facility, which is currently under construction and scheduled to be completed by the end of 2014.

The furnaces, which are capable of achieving better than 10-5 torr range vacuum level, are equipped with a 200-hp cooling blower, 4,000,000 BTU/hour heat exchanger and variable frequency drives (VFD) to provide controlled cooling. They also include the GMVAC1 WONDERWARE-based computer control system, which provides exceptional process flexibility.

G-M Enterprises (Corona, Calif.) shipped three vapor phase alumina (VPA) coating furnaces in 2006 and has received two orders for VPA coating furnaces to be delivered in February 2007. The orders are the result of increased demand in aircraft-engine construction, which requires vapor phase alumina coating of blades and vanes. G-M has developed a system where both sides of the furnace have a fully enclosed loading/unloading chamber with forced cooling.

These furnaces come equipped with G-M’s WONDERWARE computer control system for fully automatic operation in conjunction with mass-flow control panels.
